Darn disaster strikes >.>RESULTS:CHELSEA 1 WEST HAM UNITED 0A lacklustre Chelsea, tired from their Champions League assertions could only manage 1 goal in this encounter, from a moment of brilliance from former West Ham player Joe Cole. West Ham for huge periods of the game looked like they would hold on for a point, until Joe Cole's goal, which had a hint of offside. (3 points)BLACKBURN ROVERS 3 NEWCASTLE UNITED 1The 1st half was poor as chances were few and neither side had the creative spark. The match sparked to life minutes after the break when Newcastle took the lead, but Blackburn came back and led through two excellent strikes from Bentley. There was chaos in each side's penalty boxes as the defenders struggled to clear the ball properly. But Blackburn put the result to bed after an injury-time strike from Tugay earned them 3 points (but not me >.>)(0 points)PORTSMOUTH 0 EVERTON 0A lacklustre Portsmouth could only manage a point after yet another goalless draw at home. It's their 4th goalless draw in 5 games! Everton, after smashing seven past Sunderland last week, put up a toothless display infront of goal this time. A draw was probably a fair result. (0 points)READING 1 MIDDLESBROUGH 1Boro, poor travellers of the Premier League, earned themselves an important away point when Tuncay Sanli scored his 1st goal for the club in the 83rd minute, after Kitson had put Reading ahead early in the first half. Every point for the relegation strugglers could prove important in deciding who gets relegated come next May. (0 points)SUNDERLAND 1 DERBY COUNTY 0Derby, under new boss Paul Jewell looked like they would hold on for a precious point at the Stadium of Light. However, Stokes had other ideas, as he toepoked the ball across the goal-line in the 3rd minute of stoppage time to send the home fans wild with delight. For Derby, it was desperately unlucky, but it was still a decent start to Jewell's Derby managerial career. (4 points)WIGAN ATHLETIC 1 MANCHESTER CITY 1City took the lead after just 28 seconds, when Titus Bramble's horrifying mistake (which he is famous for!) put Geovanni through on goal, and he made no mistake. It was a horror start to Steve Bruce's Wigan managerial career, but his side fought back and deservingly equalised midway through the first half. Wigan had captain Melchiot sent off with a straight red for a two-footed tackle but Wigan held on to claim a precious point. (4 points)ASTON VILLA 1 ARSENAL 2Villa could count themselves VERY unlucky not to get a point from this match. After taking the lead through Gardner early in the first half, Arsenal hit back with 2 goals before half-time to establish a 2-1 lead. Villa completely dominated the second half, and should have equalised, but the crossbar came to the Gooner's, oops, Gunner's rescue as Carew's header slammed off the bar midway through the second half, and Arsenal hung on to claim an undeserved 3 points. (0 points)LIVERPOOL 4 BOLTON WANDERERS 0Liverpool ran riot against a hapless Bolton side which looked tired out. After Liverpool had taken the lead, Nicolas Anelka, one of the league's most lethal striker missed a PLATINUM, not golden chance to pull Bolton level against the run of play. A mix up between goalkeeper and defender put Anelka through on goal with noone to beat. But the league's current second highest scorer contrived to miss the target, putting his shot into the sidenetting. Comfortable win for the Reds. (3 points)TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 2 BIRMINGHAM CITY 3It was a dream start for Alex McLeish as his side claimed 3 points from White Hart Lane. Spurs were 0-1 down at half-time due to McSheffery's penalty, but fought back with two goals in the first 8 minutes to go 2-1 up. A moment of individual brilliance from Jerome put the scores level at 2-2, before Robbie Keane, scorer of both of Spur's goals, was controversially sent off by the referee for a late tackle. Larsson hit a screamer for Birmingham in injury time, with a curling effort that left Robinson stranded and left the White Hart Lane faithful stunned. (0 points)MANCHESTER UNITED 2 FULHAM 0A brace by Cristiano Ronaldo ensured United comfortably beat Fulham 2-0, and Ronaldo jumped to the top of the leading scorers, level on 8 goals with Adebayor and Benjani. He could have scored a hat-trick though, if referee Rob Styles had not stupidly booked Ronaldo for diving, even though a penalty seemed clear. Ronaldo had raced through on goal with the goalkeeper to beat and chasing a hat-trick, but Fulham keeper Niemi clipped him down. Indeed United could have scored more, if it wasn't for poor finishing and good goalkeeping. The offside-happy linesman also came to Fulham's rescue many times with a few questionable offside decisions. Rob Styles is really a ROBber, isnt he?
