Firstly, the Champions League Round of 16! A total of 7 UCL fixtures were played over Wednesday and Thursday. There will be one more next week- Inter Milan against Liverpool.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ROUND OF 16
LYON OUT OF THE PICTURE
From Old Trafford
MANCHESTER UNITED 1 Cristiano Ronaldo 41
OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS 0
Man United progress 2-1 on aggregate
Manchester United booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over French champions Lyon at home. Cristiano Ronaldo struck the only goal of the game in the 41st minute, after Lyon's backline failed to clear a shot by Anderson. The Red Devils failed to put their chances away in the second half and the match could easily have entered extra time, but the English champions pulled through to send Lyon packing.
HOLDERS VANQUISHED
From Stadio San Siro
AC MILAN 0
ARSENAL 2 Fabregas 84, Edebayor 90+2
Arsenal progress 2-0 on aggregate
Arsenal stunned holders AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro in Milan to send the aging Rossoneri side packing at the round of 16 stage. Fabregas and Edebayor both scored in the final 6 minutes to hand Arsenal victory over an aging and tiring AC Milan side.
BARCA CRUISE THROUGH
From Nou Camp
FC BARCELONA 1 Xavi 3
GLASGOW CELTIC 0
Barcelona progress 4-2 on aggregate
Barca cruised into the Champions League quarterfinals with a comfortable 1-0 victory over Celtic. Superb build-up play in the 3rd minute saw them score the opening goal, and they were never really over-troubled by their opponents from Scotland, as Celtic exited the tournament in the round of 16 for the second consecutive season.
SEVILLA OUT ON PENALTIES
From Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan
FC SEVILLA 3 Alves 5, Keita 9, Kanoute 40
FENERBAHCE SK 2 Deivid 21, 80
5-5 after extra time, Fenerbahce progress 3-2 on penalties.
Sevilla crashed out of the Champions League in the first knock-out round following a penalty shoot-out defeat to Turkish side Fenerbahce. Sevilla trailed 3-2 from the first leg, and the second leg also saw a similar scoreline, signalling extra time. There were no goals in extra time, and in the ensuing penalty shootout, Fenerbahce goalkeeper Volkan made up for his earlier errors by saving three penalties. That handed victory to the Turkish side, for their first ever appearance in the quarterfinals.
BLUES SEND OLYMPIACOS OUT
From Stamford Bridge
FC CHELSEA 3 Ballack 5, Lampard 26, Kalou 48
CFP OLYMPIACOS 0
Chelsea progress 3-0 on aggregate
Chelsea cruised into the quarterfinal stage of this season's Champions League with a comfortable victory over Greek minnows Olympiacos. Goals from Ballack, Lampard and Kalou handed Chelsea 3-0 aggregate victory to enter the quarterfinal draw.
PORTO CRASH OUT
From Stade Luis Dragao
FC PORTO 1 Lopez 86
FC SCHALKE 04 0
1-1 after extra time, Schalke progress 3-2 on penalties.
German side Schalke 04 reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in their history with a penalty shootout win over Portuguese giants Porto. 10-man Porto put the match into extra time with a late strike from Lopez, but their German counterparts won the penalty shootout following a goalless extra time period to send the 2004 winners out at the round of 16.
REAL MADRID STUNNED
From Santiago Bernabeu
REAL MADRID CF 1 Raul 75
AS ROMA 2 Taddei 73, Vucinic 90+1
AS Roma progress 4-2 on aggregate
European giants Real Madrid were stunned 2-1 at home by a resurgent AS Roma side. After Real defender Pepe had been sent off for two bookable offences, the Romans took the lead through Taddei. Though Raul equalised for the hosts, Vucinic scored in stoppage time to end Real's European campaign.
